2008/02 - Torino 2008 - World Design Capital Contemporary cities demand flexible answers. They must be able to continuously remodel themselves and constantly rediscover a new ability to adapt themselves.
The nomination as World Design Capital rewards those areas in the world that have proven their ability to steadfastly depend on design, planning research and innovation as factors for economic, social and cultural development. World Design Capitals are cities in transformation that make use of design to help re-establish new equilibriums, as they help redesign a more sustainable and shared future.
That’s why Flexibility is the leitmotiv of the Calendar of events of Torino 2008 World Design Capitaland is the concept that ties the various initiatives together.
Flexibility is the attitude, design is the tool.
2008/01 - Ride up in a state-of-the-art cable car designed by one of the world’s greatest architects, visit a museum that looks like a crystal wonderland, observe the stadium that will host the European Football Championship, ski at 9000 meters to then dive into an enormous open-air tub heated to 36°C soothed by classical background music. 2008/01 - Fine Arts Hotel Brera Accademy Lo studio Premoli Silva Nizzoli presenta a Milano un nuovo grande albergo, all'interno di un'area ex industriale in Bovisa. Concepito come esposizione permanente di opere d'arte, il Fine Arts Hotel Brera Accademy, si caratterizzerà in molti dettagli con elementi progettati dagli Artisti dell'Accademia. Le opere godranno di una fruizione differente rispetto alla tradizionale galleria, avranno una dimensione diversa, individuale e prolungata, nella quale poter apprezzare le opere in modo più intimo, più casalingo, a tal punto da desiderarne l'acquisto.
Le opere saranno infatti vendibili e subito sostituite con nuove creazioni, rendendo questo Hotel un luogo dinamico, poliedrico, innovativo e sempre differente. Uno stimolo continuo per la curiosità, il gusto e la necessità dei fruitori che vivranno atmosfere sempre diverse e innovative.
2007/12 - Triennale Design Museum Il Museo della Triennale ha l’ambizione di essere fortemente innovativo.
